I’ve had a few requests for me to show my plans of my trips rather than just the Tuesday Totals.  so here we go!  Let me know if this is helpful to you.

This week I am starting with a lot more than usual thanks to a bunch of rebates that have come in:
(2) $10 P&G gift cards (one Olay and one sports youth)
$50 gift card (a promo offer from something lol)
$66.52 in cash (my usual $55 +6.52 left over from last week +$5 mail in rebate cash)

I’ve done a bit of shopping already but have been getting requests ab0ut what deals I am going for so here’s my shopping & the rest of my plans:

Price matching @ Walmart:

I price matched $1.35/lb ground beef from Compare Foods (Winston-Salem area only)
44¢ Bananas and $1.09/lb grapes from Aldi
88¢ Wonderbread from Lowe’s Foods

I ended up with 17.5 lb of lean hamburger meat, 2.07 lbs of grapes, 2.8 lb of bananas, 2 loaves of WonderBread

Before PM value: $77.31
After PM: $29.42
I paid with $20 in gift cards and $9.42 in cash
Savings: 87.8%

The rest of my plan is at Harris Teeter:

*My friend alerted me that I had 5 coupons for the chips ahoy instead of 2- fixed it!

I plan on using a $10 off and the $5 instant savings for Conagra plus I have $5 loaded to my card from the Kimberly Clark deal last week.  I will pick up $19 worth of beef (I need roasts, etc).  I will use my gift cards to pay for it.  We didn’t get the Nabisco cookies coupon here but I have friends from other states sending some this way.

I may make additional trips this week to get more cookies, jelly and sandwich thins.

After the Walmart Price matching trip and this trip I will still have the cash portion of my budget!  I also am expecting several mail in rebate checks in the next week so I am hoping they show up this week!

“I plan on using a $10 off and the $5 instant savings for Conagra”

I am a little confused by the $10 off. Is that part of the $5/$25 Harris Teeter Promo or something else? Thanks.

Do you just bring the ads from all the stores to checkout and no questions asked?

Yes! She checked it very carefully!

What % ground beef will Walmart let you get with the Compare Foods price match? Also does the cashier do the math and multiple out the pounds by the per lb. price or does a manager have to do it? Thanks

My Walmart let me get any Ground Beef. They entered in the price per lb. and rang up each package for $3.37 ($1.35/l;b * 2.5 lb packages_

During my trip to Wal-Mart to price match the ground beef deal, my packages were weighted at 2.25

For some reason, the advertisements are covering up the chart and I can’t seem to view it in its entirety or download it or print it (because I can’t see the link). Any suggestions?

I got the Welch’s Grape Jelly last week. It was B1G1, $1.44 for 1 with $.35/1 it ended up being $.74.

Smuckers Grape Jelly 32 oz. is free this week with a $.75 coupon. You have that on your spreadsheet. Any reason our getting the Welch’s instead of Smucker’s?

I’ve never had any luck price matching meat at Walmart especially when I think you said in a prior post they would price match the Compare Food price to any grade of ground beef including 93% or 96% even though I bet the Compare Foods beef isn’t that high a grade? Are you sure they are not just doing that for you since you have this blog?

They don’t even know me at Walmart so I PROMISE it’s not that I have a blog (and I am no where NEAR that powerful)- plus many of my friends have done the same thing. Their policy is to match lb. for lb. since the ad says “Ground Beef” and isn’t specific that means that they price match ANY ground beef.

I price matched the Compare Foods ad last time ground meat was on sale and had NO problems!! Normally I would not have done this but your post encourgaged me to try it. Sadly I did not get the ad this time but I hope to go past the store to get the ad and take it to Walmart tonight!
Thanks for all that you do!!!

I have price matched at WalMart without the store ad, their policy states you do not need it, but this being Walmart it wouldn’t hurt to have it. Thanks Jessie for all the great info.

Do you have to have to have th paper to price match. I only have the Lowe’s food paper. I do not get Aldi’s or Compare Foods in the mail. Also is the hamburger price only for Wed, Thur?

Reply

MoolaSavingMom August 15, 2012 at 5:48 pm

The price is only for Wed & thurs. You are not supposed to need the ad but COmpare Foods is probably not an ad they regularly carry so you may want to go by their store and get one before attempting.

I did not need the ad tonight at the one on Hanes Mill Rd in W-S. The cashier said they normally have all the ads and if they don’t, they can call to verify price. I did print out part of the ad off the Compare Foods website just in case. First time I did a price match at Walmart and it was a positive experience!
