Lesson 6
The first place to start when looking for the deals is Moola Saving Mom! Every Tuesday morning {if not earlier} the Lowes Foods, Harris Teeter and Food Lion ad (and a lot more now) s are scoured, matched with coupons and posted for you! By Saturday, the top deals for Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS are posted. Mondays bring another round of matchups
So, how do you start finding the deals?
1. Follow MSM on twitter and FaceBook. I can often post print it now alerts and other get it now items there faster than I can access the site itself!
2. Go through the matchup lists for the store(s) you want to shop.
3. All posts referencing the store you want are located under the tabs at the top of the site: Grocery Stores and Drug Stores. Click that link and it will show you all the posts relating to those stores!
Some other features to help you :
Moola Saving Mom offers a coupon database. It is located HERE. You can search for coupons that you need or want to use. For example if you need a Maxwell house coupon- search for it and this is what it will give you:
Now you can see exactly where that coupon is!
What if an item I want {or need} is not on any of those lists?
1) Buy the cheapest variety of that item you can find. Generally Walmart or Food Lion will be your best bet (along with Discount stores like Dollar General). Buy just enough to last a week or two and look for good deals in the mean time.
To get the cheapest price for an item NOT in a store matchup.
1) Buy the cheapest variety at the store you are shopping. Buy just enough to last a week or two. Keep an eye out for the sales.
If you shop at Harris Teeter or Lowes
1. Use the online shopping for either Lowes Foods or Harris Teeter (it is free to search prices, etc).
2. Search for the item you need (i.e. shredded cheese)
3. Sort by price- if a name brand is on sale cheaper then store brand- open the Moola Saving Mom coupon database. Search for that brand name and see if any coupons match up. If so- awesome! If not, that is okay- buy enough to last you a few weeks. That item is going to go on sale somewhere!
How to Read a Coupon Matchup:
For the new format (most of our stores except Harris Teeter and Farm Fresh currently):
Indicates that the final price is one of the better deals in the matchups. It doesn’t necessarily indicate a stock up price.(We’re working on getting a stock up price button)
Indicates that the item is an unadvertised sale. You should find it marked at this price in your store but it won’t be in the sales flyer.
There may be 2 (or more) tabs- this is because when the new ad is posted but hasn’t ended in the stores both lists are available in one place. Be sure to click the week you really want.
You can check off the items you want in your list and it will create a customized list you can email or print. Links in black are insert coupons with the date it came out and in what insert. Links in blue are printable. Zip Codes are provided where necessary.
When there are a lot of coupons the list will say “show more” and you can click that to see more coupons:
To save paper and ink when printing your list click the two arrows at the top to expand the list (click the image below to see it larger). You can then “X” out any coupons you don’t want to included in your list. You can also add other items to your list.
I hope you find these lists to be the most comprehensive out there. We are working on bringing you even greater features in the future so stay tuned!
