It never fails that I will buy a lot of something, and my family decides that’s the exact item they don’t want to eat for a while. Recently it was apples. I got pounds and pounds of apples because they were eating pounds and pounds of them….then all those apples sat and sat.
I had several apples that were going a bit soft or had flaws in them. Rather than just cutting out the bad parts and serving them with cheese and crackers for a snack I decided to make apple sauce. It’s so easy and quick and let’s just say all those apples are gone now…after having to make this every day for several days!
- 4-5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- Water
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Place apple slices in a pan and fill with water until ½ of the apples are covered.
- Add sugar and cinnamon.
- Cook on med/low for 15-20 minutes until apples soften.
- Continue to cook on low until most of the water is gone.
- Remove from stove and mash apples to your preferred consistency.
- Chill and serve.
