Kandi sent a message about how she uses her health insurance to save money in other areas!
Kandi says that her family has coverage with BCBS and her coverage includes an incentive/rewards program. She earns points for excercising, yearly phyisicals and even eating healthy! She cashes in these rewards for gift cards.
She says, “This week I went to Old Navy for school clothes with gift cards and a coupon. I purchased $151 in clothes and my OOP was 58¢. This is an excellent program that the majority of people at my own job don’t even take advantage of. I tell them you are throwing money away, it is there for you. And the best part is the points roll over every year. A 1,000 points can earn you a $10 gift card and you automatically get that by just filling out a health survey.”
That’s a great tip from Kandy! Many times you may have additional benefits that just aren’t promoted at your employer. Talk to your HR department about ALL of your benefits. For example, my husband’s employer offers a discount benefit- we get access to a national website offering discount tickets and other exclusive savings!
