We love love tortilla chips. There is something so delicious about fresh tortilla chips and a great salsa….Sitting in our favorite Mexican restaurant we might think that they are difficult to make but they are easy and fast! A bag of tortilla chips costs around $4 at regular price…..a bag of corn tortillas is about $2 and makes a LOT of chips! If you make more than you can eat at once- allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container for a few days….but I doubt any will make it that far!
I highly recommend a deep fryer for these because it’s so much easier and the oil stays hot through all of the batches. I love my FryDaddy.
I’ve learned after much trial and error (I told you that we love tortilla chips)- that cutting them into sixths makes them better than just cutting into fourths. The oil drains off them much better and the middles don’t get soggy like they often do when cutting them into fourths.
