We are sharing Rebecca’s DIY project on MoolaSavingMom.com because they can be used for home schoolers, young artists and anyone else who wants DIY ideas that can save them money on projects around the house.
I have found that having a marker holder works better than just a plastic container. Children are more likely to put them away with the lid on if they have to put the marker in a holder.
Supplies:
- a thick piece of wood (mine is 8″ x 3 3/4″. I cut if off a 4×4)
- paint or stain (if you prefer)
- 3/4 ” drill or butterfly bit
- drill
- Cut the wood to the length you desire
- drill holes in the wood
- paint or stain (I left my natural)
Rebecca Burriss is an educator of children and avid DIYer. She raised four daughters and taught them how to do make lots of things including ceramics, elaborate doll houses, wood projects and even home interior design projects.
Rebecca runs an in-home preschool where she teaches preschoolers how to make all types of age appropriate things, generally from items she finds around the house and in her husband’s workshop.
Rebecca has expanded her DIY projects to refinishing furniture, simple tables and art projects including making all of the manipulatives and toys she uses in her classes. Also something to try…….
Glue the caps into the wood. It makes it easier for children to put the lid on the markers, and causes fewer markers to dry out!
