*This is the first back to school for my kids after COVID began so we’ll have to see what the BTS deals look like this year…but here’s a reminder of what we are looking to pay.
I know that school just let out for the summer (for most of us) but it’s actually the perfect time to start thinking about next years’ school supplies. You may not have an actual list of necessary school supplies but most of us know the basics. Pencils, pens, paper, scissors. If this is your first journey into school days- you will also need items for homework and projects too.
We generally see the best deals at the office supply stores, Target and Walmart although the drug stores do jump into the School Bus on deals. Historically, Staples and Office Depot will run penny and quarter items every week. These will have a limit but if you ask Grandma and Grandpa to pick some up too- you can really stock up on these items!
PLEASE remember that these are my personal price points- what I am willing to pay for items. It takes time and effort to obtain these prices- you may have to go to multiple stores or multiple trips over the course of the summer. The best part- by the first day of school you can have enough to last your child(ren) for the entire school year and never pay $4 for a box of markers in January! These are based on what I’ve paid in past years so we may never seem them so exactly to 25¢ but this is a good start to use as a guideline.
We’ll start to see the sales start in August. Here on MSM we’ll have a list for all the major players and the school supplies will even be searchable! If you need pencils you will be able to search “pencils” to find all the sales for the week of pencils!
A few online deals;
30 ct glue sticks as low as 36 cents each

Hi Do you know if Office Max or another office supply store will be offering the free backpack after rewards again this year? Thanks

I haven’t heard anything specific yet

This is great!! Thanks so much for putting this together for us. You are amazing! I have a question- Walgreens will have index cards on sale for 39 cents starting Sunday. Do you think this is a good price or will I be able to get them cheaper? TIA!
MoolaSavingMom says
I think that 39¢ is a stock up price. My kids are not old enough to need them for school yet but they generally are over $1 each so 60% off is a good deal
