I love the way this wreath came out! I used 2 trees with different diameters. I like trees that have bumpy bark rather than smooth bark. Cut a few extra and let the kids make some ornaments!

Materials:

• Wood slices
• Circular saw
• Jigsaw (If you cut your own circle)
• Drill
• Wood Glue 
• Wood ring
• Ribbon to hang it up
• Ribbon or other decorations

Instructions:

1. Cut trees into 1/4″ – 1/2″ slices using a circular saw
2. Allow the slices to dry for a week or so because the glue will not hold if the wood is damp
3. Cut a circle  out of thin wood or thick cardboard  (You can purchase one at a craft store instead of cutting one)
4. Drill a hole for hanging on the circle
5. Thread a ribbon thru the hole to hang
6. Glue larger slices onto the wood ring
7. Glue smaller slices into desired pattern on top of the larger slices
8. Glue on decorations
9. Allow glue to dry then hang it up!

I am making a larger wreath to hang outside but I will nail or screw it together rather than using glue as glue will deteriorate in the weather.

I had an old fireplace screen that was dated that I didn’t want to use anymore but I loved the metal peacock on it. The side on my shed looked by a huge canvas so I decided to re-purposes it from a fireplace screen to art.

I used a grinder to cut the sodering that was holding the peacock onto the metal frame. I attached the peacock to the shed by drilling holes into the shed and attaching the peacock with black ties wraps.

I  still have some space left on the “canvas” on my shed so stay tuned for a dragonfly made out of fan blades and a deck post.

Just a few pieces of scrap wood, nails and paint and you will have a quick and easy wooden pumpkin!

Materials:

• Wood slats (pieces from a pallet work great)
• Paint
• Small Nails or a nail gun
• Jigsaw

Instructions:

1. Lay the wood pieces out and mark where to cut them in the shape of a pumpkin
2. Cut the wood using a jigsaw
3. Nail the pieces onto a center board
4. Paint the pumpkin

Stick it in a flower pot or just in your garden. You could paint “Happy Thanksgiving”, “Happy Fall” or your last name on the pumpkin.

I have had a keyboard for years sitting on my dining room table. I recently sold that table so I needed someplace to keep my keyboard. As usual I looked around my wood scraps and found what I needed to make a small keyboard table with wood salvaged from other projects.

Materials:

• Wood for legs
• Wood for table top
• Paint
• Screws
• Wood Glue
• Scrap Book Paper (If desired)
• Spray Adhesive to attach scrap book paper

Instructions:

1. Cut the table top the size desired and sand
2. Cut legs the height needed and sand (I used two pieces of wood per leg for an “L” shaped leg)
3. Glue and screw the two pieces of the legs together
4. Attach boards around the bottoms of the leg to keep it square (Picture 2)
5. Attach legs to bottom of the table top with glue and screws
6. Remove the boards around the bottom
7. Paint entire table
8. I added some scrap book music sheets to the front of the legs

Years ago I used to do macrame all the time. I haven’t done it for years but  I decided to try some purses for gifts this year and I love the way they came out. I am including some pictures from when I was making them. I left the instructions off because I think it is easier to follow a pattern in a book so you can get very detailed written instructions. Here is the 4mm cord I ordered but you can adjust any pattern based on the size and type of cord you choose.

I had several tall patio chairs that had good frames but the fabric was ripped. I had already replaced the fabric once and because these chairs are in the weather all year long I wanted something that would hold up better.

Materials:

• Boards for the seat (You can buy pre-cut boards the size of your choice or we cut pieces out of a 2×4)
• Self-Drilling Screws (They go thru the wood and then into the metal frame)
• Stain or paint
• Countersink drill bit

Instructions:

1. Remove the chair frame and the old fabric
2. Cut wood the width of the chair frame
3. Attach each piece of wood to the frame with the self-drilling screws (Countersink them at this time)
4. Use a piece of wood the size of the spacing you want between each piece of wood to make sure all the pieces are evenly spaced. Attach all the pieces.
5. Stain or pain the wood

I love how these turned out and the best part is I won’t have to worry about them for years.

I used left over wood to make this rolling plant tray.

Materials:

• Wood
• Wheels
• Wood glue
• Nail gun

Instructions:

1. Cut wood to the desired lengths (3 for top and 2 for underneath)
2. Glue and nail 3 tops pieces to bottom pieces
3. Attach wheels

I made this in just a few minutes. You could paint or stain if desired.
