Ok I LOVE this project to turn a Starbucks Frappuccino bottle into cute Farmhouse decor and it was so inexpensive it was nearly free!

What you need:

• Empty and cleaned Frappucchino Bottle (and lid)
• Adhesive remover (I prefer this brand)
• White Acrylic Paint (I used Apple Barrel)
• Black Acrylic Paint (I used Apple Barrel)
• Stencil (I used a Cricut to make mine but you can buy one)

I had this Christmas art work I wanted to create and while in the thrift store the other day, I grabbed this totally-not-my-style palm tree wall decor.  But I loved the distressed frame and the burlap background.

So I decided to remake this and turn it into my style!

First I started with using a black chalk paint to cover the palm tree center- since the edges of that insert were distressed I did my best to preserve the distress.  I lightly taped around the insert on the burlap to ensure I didn’t accidentally get paint on it.

Then I used the Cricut to cut out the words I wanted to place in a green vinyl and a yellow star. I bought this SVG off etsy but had to re-work it to fit in the space I wanted. Some of the VERY thin fonts were impossible to weed and kept ripping so I re-cut the vinyl without the super thin ones.

The longest part was waiting for the paint to completely dry before adding the vinyl!

I had an idea and couldn’t find exactly what I wanted for under $30 so I decided to make it myself! Here’s how I did it.

All together it cost about $9.00 after picking up the flowers at Michaels for 50% off!

Materials:
Embroidery Hoops
Stain of choice
Peony Flowers
Accent artificial flowers (like these)

Embroidery hoops have two parts – separate them. You can use either one because you will glue the flowers over the clasp.

Deconstruct the flowers- pull the heads off, the leaves, etc.

Using a hot glue gun, attach the flowers. I used three and then added the leaves on the edges.

Super easy! Waiting for the stain to dry was the part that took the longest.

I have been searching for WEEKS for the perfect spice rack. I searched on every site I could think of and no one had the exact rack I wanted.  I found some that were close…..and turned one that was close into the perfect one!

I loved the look of the wood and black metal of this one but I needed one that went on the wall.

So I bought this chicken wire rack.

Once I had it up I realized that it just wasn’t going to work as-is.

The bottom of the shelves were plain chicken wire so the weight of the bottles caused them to sit strange. Some sunk lower than others and some tilted right, others tilted left. It was driving me crazy plus it was missing an important element- the dark stained wood!

Each shelf interior was 2 inches by 16 5/8 inches so I bought this 2 inch wide trim and cut four pieces from it.

Then I stained it with my favorite farm-housey looking gel stain.

 

I bought these jars – they came with labels!

I LOVE it.  It is 98% of what I imagined. Initially I wanted doors but realized that would probably eventually annoy me having to open and close it a dozen times so I’m glad that it’s hanging open on the cabinet side.

The point of my post is that if you can’t find exactly what you want- find something close and turn it into yours.

My sister scored several of these tin shingles and she gave me several. I loved the chippy paint and even the rust!  It all adds character and you can’t buy that in a store. I built a super easy frame and voila! from roof to wall.

The first thing I did was test the paint for lead. I didn’t want to be messing with it if it had lead paint.  You can find lead testing kits here.

 

Each shingle has an edge where they were overlapped and I didn’t want that to show in my frame so I measured it to hide that but to show most of the character.

 

I had an old piece of wood in the barn so I used that but you could use any piece of wood you have, as long as it’s long enough to make all 4 sides.

Using a miter saw, I cut the 4 sides of the frame and then used a brad nail gun to nail it together through each corner.

I used my favorite Minwax Expresso Stain to stain the frame.  While the frame was drying I used a sanding block to distress the center of the shingle a little more.There were several coats of paint so I loved that I was able to see a little of each layer.

I used a small drill bit to drill through the shingle three places on each side. I drilled it into a piece of scrap wood.

Then I attached the shingle to the wood with small screws.

I absolutely LOVE how it came out.

I have it sitting on my sunroom buffet for now but I may hang it up, so I added a picture hanger to the back.

I got this coffee table almost 2 years ago with the idea of turning it into an ottoman and never got around to it.

Then I started to makeover my sunroom and decided I needed a bench and thought I’d use the coffee table!

Here is how I did it.

I started with this coffee table I got on offer up. It was pretty heavy!  The legs and trim were wood but the top had a worn top so I decided to remove the top completely.

That was easier said than done- it was glued pretty heavily so I removed the legs and then used a crowbar and hammer to remove the top nearly in one piece.

I unscrewed all the corner pieces that held the legs to the side pieces and cute the sides down to fit the piece of poplar wood I got for the top.

Then I reattached the shortened pieces to the corner brackets and attached the legs.

I stained the top with a gel stain.

I used this Coffee Gel Stain and LOVE it. I think it turned out lovely.

First I cleaned everything and then used a paintable caulk to seal all the edges where the trim butted up to the legs.

For the legs and trim I used a chalk spray paint.  I LOVE how it came out.

I used brackets to attach the top to the sides.

I adore how it came out and for just around $50 compared to similar ones selling for $127+ online!

I went for a super nice piece of board for the top but the cost could be dropped significantly with a less expensive piece of wood.

I had an image in my head of what I wanted this to be..subtle, nature inspired and calming. I think it came out to be all of that and more!

Vinyl letters (or use paint or markers to hand write them)
