Egg Prices This Week

Wondering where the best price for eggs is this week? The prices of eggs are going up, up and up…and there are lots of reasons for it.  Widespread and lingering bird flu, plus higher feed costs has the cost of eggs soaring. In 2022 we were seeing prices around $2 and now we're seeing $4+ a dozen.  One of the biggest reasons we're seeing EGG prices soaring but the price of chicken itself not going that high are that the majority of the birds that has to slaughtered due to the bird flu were egg-laying chickens.  (Per USNEWS-43 million of the 58 million birds that were hit by flu were egg laying) that means that is 43 million LESS eggs per day!

Of course my chickens are being slackers right now and not laying a single egg…… so alas buying them in the grocery stores! I REALLY miss those fresh brown eggs everyday.

I've rounded up the sales plus pulled prices from the stores apps . (I am outside Raleigh so prices may vary by area)
