These are TOO cute- you simply MUST make them for your 4th of July BBQ!
Instead of the boring old cupcakes- make these hamburger cupcakes. My kids were too excited to try them- they weren’t quite sure to expect it to taste like hamburgers or cupcakes!
Ingredients;
Vanilla/Yellow Cupcakes
Chocolate Cupcakes
Icing- divided into 3 parts: Yellow, Red, Green or 3 tubes decorating icing in those colors.
Seasame seeds
Directions:
Cut the tops off the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Place the bottom of the chocolate cupcake on top of the bottom of the vanilla. Use red frosting to add “ketchup”
Add yellow frosting for mustard and green for lettuce.
Place the yellow top back on top and top with sesame seeds (you could leave this step out if you don’t have sesame seeds)

Question: How do the sesame seeds stay on top of the already cooked cupcake? Did you have to use a light glaze on the top bun?
MoolaSavingMom says
She just dusted them on top- she wasn’t planning on taking them far just to the plate and then the table. If you were going to transport them or move them alot you could probably brush with light sugary glaze to keep them stuck.

I made these last fall and just used a pastry brush to put a little water on top to make the seeds stick. They add so much to the authentic look! Also, instead of chocolate cake, I used brownie. I did a large jelly roll pan so they were thinner than if in a 13×9 pan and then used a shot glass as a cookie cutter and they were just the right size. So tasty too!

Oh brownie was a great idea!
