My friend messaged me that I was MISSING OUT on some amazing savings with the Cash App. She was right- I had been! Here’s how I’ve been saving 10% on my groceries the past few weeks.
How to get $5 for trying it out
First- if you use a friends’ referral link you get $5 and they get $5 when you transfer your first deposit. I signed up with hers, transferred $5 to the app and got my bonus within hours. Want the free $5? Sign up here.
Then choose “add cash” and add $5 to your account.
You should see the $5 bonus shortly.
How to save 10% in the stores {varies}
Then you request your FREE cash card. It took about a week to arrive for me. In the mean time- you can use the digital version online.
On the card page you will see “boosts“- each week I’ve been having a 10% off at any grocery store (varies by account)
other boosts include 10% off at Publix
10% off at Home Depot
10% off at Cook Out
these will change and vary by week and user.
There are minimums and maximums for the discounts (mine was max $7.50)
Only one boost can be active at once but as soon as you use it- you can add another. For example I used the 10% boost at Starbucks and then walked into Harris Teeter loading the 10% off any grocery store.
You can add or change a boost at anytime. Boosts reset for me on Fridays.
You must have the cash in the app/on the card before trying to use it. So I moved my grocery budget onto the app before I left the house on Wed.
Here is what happened at the register.
My total at Harris Teeter after all my coupons was $86.52 on Wednesday this week.
But only $79.02 was charged to my cash app!
So just by using the Cash App card I saved an extra $7.50 on top of my coupons & rebates!
Now this is a totally new app/company to me so here are some things I am doing:
- I ONLY put my grocery budget on the card before I head out to the store. I don’t want to have excess funds sitting on that card.
- Anything over $20 is cashed out back to my bank account (free but it takes a few days or pay $1.80 to get it instantly).
- There are limits. Max per month is $1250.00 to be spent but this can vary.
- the funds are NOT FDIC-insured. Your bank probably is- this app is NOT. DO NOT keep lots of money in this app. Add to it as you need it. Do NOT use it to store funds.
