We’re testing a new weekly series here on MSM: Make it Mondays. We’ll give easy to follow instructions on projects that are fun, easy and frugal! A huge thanks to the super Crafty Moola-Saving-Mom’s Mom Rebecca for bringing us her crafty ideas each week!
This is a great project for a preschool or just to have at home! It’s great because kids love to make tents and this is super easy for them to set up and take down!
1) Here are the supplies you will need:
- Drill and 1/2″ bit or larger
- 4 pieces of wood (you can choose type and size. I used 1/2″ thick plywood cut to 38″Lx2″W)
- 1 – 1/2″ All thread 36″L (use can use whatever size and length you want)
- 2 – 1/2″ nuts (get size to fit your allthread)
- 2 – 1/2″ hex locks (again, whatever sizxe to fit your allthread)
- 4 – 1/2″x2″ washers (get size to fit your allthread and cover hole you drilled in wood)
- 2 – 1/2″ white axle push nuts (to put on end of allthread, if desired. Get size to fit your allthread)
- 4 – Small wooden caps to put at bottom of legs if you want to tie a covering over frame
2) Cut wood to desired size or buy precut pieces. Drill a hole 5″ from the top in each piece of wood. I used 1/2″ thick plywood cut to 38″Lx2″W
3) Put the all thread through holes you drilled in the wood. 2 pieces of wood at each end. Put the nuts
and washers on according to diagram below (the locknut is on the outside to keep the allthread from
coming out):
3) Tighten all the nuts and position the wood how ever far apart you want it to be.
4) Now, you are ready to throw a sheet or blanket over it. You can tuck the end under each leg to keep it from blowing off. Or, make a cover to fix exactly and tie it to the wooden knobs on the bottoms of the legs.
