Make it Mondays are brought to us by Rebecca of Tumbleweed Preschool in Advance, NC. She is always looking for frugal DIY projects for her students and her home. We are sharing Rebecca’s DIY project on MoolaSavingMom.com because they can be used for home schoolers, young artists and anyone else who wants DIY ideas that can save them money on projects around the house.
These books with manipulatives are free and easy to make. Go to www.drjean.org. She has many pre-k printable books to download for free. You can also buy songs or CD’s that go along with her printable books.
I always print the book in color and bind it. You can laminate it if you wish. I cut out the matching animals and cover them with contact paper. I put a piece of velcro on each individual piece and in the corresponding pictures in the book. The children love to hold the animals and when they hear the color and animal they are holding they put it in the book. You can use it at circle time or let the children use it the listening center independently.
Rebecca Burriss is an educator of children and avid DIYer. She raised four daughters and taught them how to do make lots of things including ceramics, elaborate doll houses, wood projects and even home interior design projects.
