Children love to pretend to fish. I made this game when I was doing my kindergarten student teaching. I put a different month on each fish and when the children caught all the fish they had to put the months in order. You could put letters, colors, numbers or even sight words on the fish depending on the age of the children or just let them catch the fish and then count how many they caught or sort them by color or size.
Materials:
- Dowel rod
- String
- Magnets
- Paper clips
- Foam sheets (I bought a kit on clearance that had a dozen fish to put together but you can just cut out fish or other sea creature shapes)
- Glue
Instructions:
- Cut out sea creatures and/or fish from the foam
- Cut dowel rods into 24″ lpieces
- Tie the string around one end of the dowel and the other end of the string around a magnet
- Put a paper clip thru each fish
They can play this game in water or just lay the fish on the ground or on the carpet.
