These ornaments are a quick and simple craft that would be great to do with kids!
Materials:
1. Peppermint candies
2. Parchment paper
3. Cooking spray
4. Toothpicks
5. Metal cookie cutters
6. Cookie tray
7. Ribbon
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place a piece of parchment paper on the cookie tray.
3. Spray all the inside edges of each cookie cutter with cooking spray.
4. Place the cookie cutters on the parchment paper.
5. Place unwrapped peppermints inside the cookie cutters. Try to fill the space as much as you can. If you would prefer thicker ornaments, you can use 2 layers of peppermints.
6. Place the cookie tray in the oven for 8-10 minutes. Be sure to watch as the candies melt. Once the candies have filled each cookie cutter, you can carefully remove the tray from the oven.
7. Let the ornaments sit and cool for about one minute.
8. Spray the tip of a toothpick with cooking spray.
9. Use the toothpick to make a small whole at the top of each ornament. If the whole fills in (the candy is still melting), wait another 30 seconds to 1 minute for the candies to cool a little more. Don’t wait too long though! The candy will re-harden quickly!
10. Once completely cool, gently stretch the cookie cutter. Gently remove the ornament from the cookie cutter.
11. Use a papertowel to remove any cooking spray residue.
12. Attach a ribbon to each ornament.
13. Hang on your Christmas tree and enjoy!
