Make it Mondays are brought to us by Rebecca of Tumbleweed Preschool in Advance, NC. She is always looking for frugal DIY projects for her students and her home. We are sharing Rebecca’s DIY project on MoolaSavingMom.com because they can be used for home schoolers, young artists and anyone else who wants DIY ideas that can save them money on projects around the house.
I have two small yellow plastic children’s patio chairs on my deck. My grandchildren love to sit in them. Over the years they have faded to almost white. Every year I wash them off and every year they they are harder to clean. This summer I picked them up and was ready to toss them out. I remembered the paint from Rustoleum that I had used on my last weeks project where I repainted my daughters metal patio set. I looked on the can and not only does it have paint & primer it can be used on plastic as well! They turned out so nice. I am glad I saved myself some money by repainting them instead of replacing them and by using paint left over from another project.
Here is what they looked like before:
Supplies:
- water and sponge
- spray paint (Rustoleum)
- wash the chairs with soap and let dry
- spray them with a good paint made for plastic and let dry
Quick and easy and they look great! My grandchildren will be so surprised!

This looks like a project I have been planning to do. Glad to hear that the paint really works to cover the stains.

My grandchildren have been using them all summer and they still look like new!
