I have a glass top stove and I wanted to protect it but whatever I made I wanted it to match my kitchen and look nice. I always try to use wood I have on hand and I was able to find just what I needed in my scraps. I used soup spoons to make the handles and with the stencil I used of kitchen utensils I think it looks great!
Materials:
- Thin plywood for base
- Thick wood to attach the handles
- Spoons for handles
- Paint (Use a good quality paint with primer)
- Stencils (I printed the stencil online and cut it our)
- Sealant (I use MinWax Water Based Polycrylic)
- Wood Glue
- Vise
- Drill
Instructions:
- Cut a piece of plywood the size to cover your stove top
- Attach to thicker pieces of wood for the handles to attach to with wood glue and screws
- Paint the stove cover tray
- Paint on stencils or other decorations
- Bend the spoons to desired shape (I used a vise)
- Drill a hole on each of the the spoon and screw it to the tray
- Paint with sealant (I put the recommended 3 coats)

Love the look of this! The teaspoon handles look amazing, be great to use as a serving tray too. #TwinklyTuesday
