Make it Mondays: Stove Cover Tray

I have a glass top stove and I wanted to protect it but whatever I made I wanted it to match my kitchen and look nice. I always try to use wood I have on hand and I was able to find just what I needed in my scraps. I used soup spoons to make the handles and with the stencil I used of kitchen utensils I think it looks great!

Materials:

• Thin plywood for base
• Thick wood to attach the handles
• Spoons for handles
• Paint (Use a good quality paint with primer)
• Stencils (I printed the stencil online and cut it our)
• Sealant (I use MinWax Water Based Polycrylic)
• Wood Glue
• Vise
• Drill

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of plywood the size to cover your stove top
2. Attach to thicker pieces of wood for the handles to attach to with wood glue and screws
3. Paint the stove cover tray
4. Paint on stencils or other decorations
5. Bend the spoons to desired shape (I used a vise)
6. Drill a hole on each of the the spoon and screw it to the tray
7. Paint with sealant (I put the recommended 3 coats)
