Make it Mondays are brought to us by Rebecca of Tumbleweed Preschool in Advance, NC. She is always looking for frugal DIY projects for her students and her home. We are sharing Rebecca’s DIY project on MoolaSavingMom.com because they can be used for home schoolers, young artists and anyone else who wants DIY ideas that can save them money on projects around the house.
I still have the crib I used for all four of my daughters. It is now over 30 years old and was old when I purchased it used. I did not want to give it away or sell it because it would not meet today’s safety standards. I needed a cart for my preschool that I could use to easily transport the outside toys. I decided to use the 2 long sides of the crib and some extra plywood to make my cart.
Supplies:
- 2 crib sides
- saw
- screws
- drill
- wood glue
- plywood
- stain or paint
- 4 small wheels
Procedures:
- cut the crib sides in half
- drill holes in tops and bottoms of each side
- screw sides together to form a square (glue first, then put screws)
- cut a piece of plywood (I used 1/2 “) to fit the bottom
- drill holes, then glue and put in screws
- stain(or paint) the bottom and cut edges on the crib side
- Screw one wheel on each corner on the bottom
This whole project cost me a little over $8.00. The only thing I had to purchase was the wheels.
