Using our coupons to maximize our savings sometimes takes a little bit of math.
Keri sent over this tip: She was looking to use the 50¢ off Mahatma Rice Coupon from the RP 1/27
She noticed that the 1 lb bag of Watermaid was $1.29 and the Mahatma Rice was $2.59 for 2 lbs.
She did some math:
Using four $.50/1 coupons on four bags of 1 lb. Watermaid. (coupon doubles to $1.00)=
$1.29 x 4 bags=$5.16 – $4.00 (double coupon)=$1.16 for four bags or $.29 per pound (bag)!
OR
Use two $.50/1 coupons on two bags of 2 lb Mahatma. (coupon doubles to $1.00)=
$2.59 x2 bags=$5.18 -$2.00 ( double coupon)=$3.18 for 2 bags or $.80 per pound
The cheaper deal is to purchase (4) one pound bags of Watermaid , using (4) .50 cent coupons which double to $1.00 each making your purchase $.29 per pound of rice!
As coupon stockpilers, we buy in bulk just in smaller packages! Thanks to Keri for sharing her savings tip!
