I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dollar Tree. I’m a big crafter so I love finding a Craft Corner store (which has a BIG supply of crafting supplies) and it’s often my
Here is a list of things to ALWAYS buy at the Dollar Tree and what to NEVER buy there.
What to ALWAYS buy at the Dollar Tree.
ALWAYS buy the wrapping paper.
Even though the rolls are smaller than the big stores- you will never beat a buck a roll! I love being able to have each kids’ presents in their own design at Christmas.
ALWAYS go for the helium balloons.
You won’t find a better price and they actually have a BIG selection. You’ll pay a LOT more at the party store than you will at the Dollar Tree.
ALWAYS go disposable.
As much as I try to not be wasteful, on big holidays I have to depend on disposable trays to keep myself from standing by the sink for hours. The variety of disposable pans at the Dollar Tree is unbeatable. Considering similar products are $4+ at the grocery store.
Always go for the pregnancy tests.
Pregnancy tests at the drug store are pretty pricy but the Dollar Tree version actually is really accurate. If you are trying for a baby, keep a few on hand to test as needed and go for the expensive ones only when you really want to verify the test.
Always go for LA’s Totally Awesome.
Seriously ..this is the best Dollar Tree ever! It works on everything from upholstery to floors. It really is TOTALLY Awesome.
Always go for the party supplies.
They have a huge variety of color and even some decorated ones with butterflies and such. The plastic table cloths are great for crafting on too. Just toss when it gets too painty!
Always for the gift wrapping supplies.
From tape to bags to tissue paper there is a bag for every event. We like to get the plain ones and allow the kids to decorate them with markers and stickers. Stock up a gift closet and always have a gift ready to go.
Always go for the glassware.
From vases to dishes- the Dollar Tree glassware is great for both home decor and arts and crafts.
Always go for the wood craft supplies.
Seriously you can transform them into amazing pieces! See what I did with these drawers here. They have SO many great crafting items for a great price. I picked up finger protectors, glitter pages and some wooden drawers yesterday.
Always go for the sunglasses.
I lose my glasses and break them ALL THE TIME. If I spent a lot of money on them I’d be upset- with my Dollar Tree glasses I know it’s ok. I keep backup pairs in every car and on my desk.
Always go for the candles!
For a buck you get a really good scented candle. They have votive candles, glass jar candles and pillar candles too.
Always go for dinner ware.
It seems like at least once a week one of my kids breaks a plate doing the dishes so I go for the Dollar Tree plates until they have outgrown this phase!
Always go for the coffee cups.
They have come a long way in the last years- and now they have super cute ones! These are great gifts too- fill them up with candies and a gift card and wrap in a bow.
What to avoid buying at the Dollar Tree:
There are three things that I would honestly advise NEVER buying at the Dollar Tree. Medications and Electronics and Meats. They are low quality and in fact may cause damage so skip those at the Dollar Tree. I can attest that the ear buds last all of 5 minutes before breaking. Spend a little more and get quality of these products.
Now the meat may not be BAD or harmful but you will usually get a better deal per pound (and better quality) at the grocery store. So in a pinch..sure go for those Dollar Tree pork chops but you will probably get a bigger bang for your buck grabbing them on sale at the grocery store.
