Oranges were on sale at the store so I grabbed two bags and wanted to try something different than just peeling them- Candied oranges for the win!
- 4 small oranges (or 2 large ones)
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups sugar, with some reserved for coating
- Wash the oranges and slice them evenly about ⅛ inch thick.
- Add the sugar to the water in a large sauce pan and bring to a boil until the sugar is dissolved.
- Reduce the heat to medium (simmer)
- Add the oranges slowly so they don't clump together.
- Turning the oranges occasionally.
- Cook 30 minutes.
- Remove the slices from the syrup and place on a wire rack or parchment paper lined sheet pan.
- Allow to cool and dry completely- up to 24 hours.
- When dry- coat with sugar.
- Keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
